Wife finds a scared kitten under a bush in her yard just as a thunderstorm rolls in, takes him inside, and is already working on convincing her husband that three cats is basically the same as two.

(Pics are post-bath tonight, he's half wet haha) This tiny bub was shivering under a bush in my front yard right as a thunderstorm was rolling in, Tuesday night.

I'm extremely confident he does not have any kind of owner - he is not neutered, was very dirty,
  • 04
has a handful of scabby wounds that look like a big cat chewed on him at least a week ago. He is obviously really tiny,

age-wise he must be young, but he is also very skinny and seems ravenously hungry and thirsty. He has a hoarse meow that doesn't sound well used. He

didn't seem to know how to use a litter box the first night (we have him quarantined in a bathroom), but tonight he did use one successfully! He is very

but has never been aggressive. Seems like an interesting blend of slightly domesticated, but hasn't been taken care of recently?

Mainly, how old of a kitten is this likely to be? I've only ever adopted adult cats and have very little experience with kittens.
  • 13
The first vet appointment we were able to get is Friday afternoon, so we'll keep him closed off from my other two kitties until he (hopefully) gets a clean bill of health. I

would love to have an estimate before then, I want to know if I can feasibly get him neutered soon, or if he's too young!
  • 15
Sorry to ramble! Any thoughts you lovely people might have would be appreciated!

1GoldenMonkey You are amazing for taking this kitten in. My suggestion of being a recipient of the CDS less than a year ago, is to take him/her to the vet. They will be able help in checking for a chip and help narrow down how old he is.

regular_ginger OP I'm trying to convince hubs that 3 cats is pretty much the same as 2 cats, so we obviously need to keep him □ I have a vet appointment for Friday afternoon! I'm just impatient

    PugInTheSky 3 cats 2 cats. It's just basic math. :) =

1GoldenMonkey How could your husband say no to that face? It is just basic math 3 cats is almost the same as 1, lol. Good luck with the appointment.

ConsequenceSecure808 Honestly, if youvhave 2 cats already adding one more is a no problem, 4 cats instead of 2 is easy

spoiledandmistreated Nine cats equal a brood........ actually they can probably neuter him now as with males they can do it very young and doesn't always even require a stitch... thank you for taking in this boy,l sense he will be a very loving boy... Nothing wrong with being a crazy cat lady as it doesn't start out that way, kittens just seem to find our house..

OkComfortable1015 Thank you for taking this sweet baby in. I suspect she's full grown just very petite. May have not gotten the right food when she was a baby. Bless you for taking in sweetheart. Spending all my love and blessings AC

regular_ginger OP I've never seen an adult boy cat this tiny, he definitely has trouble puffs when he's curled in a donut shape sleeping, he's like 10 inches across at the max
  • 24
horwaith Seems changing color, that's 6-8 weeks, probably the vet say that you wait to fat him. up for fix.

regular_ginger OP I was thinking he'd probably be better off well fed and watered before having sur ry it's so hard to tell the age he has such a pretty coloring and the blue eyes are maybe here to stay? Idk!
